A FINE GEORGE II SILVER TEA CADDY SET IN A FITTED CASE
Mark of Samuel Taylor, London, 1754
Comprising two tea caddies and a sugar bowl and cover; each of inverted baluster form, on circular foot, the body embossed with spiral-fluted panels enclosing floral garlands, each body engraved with a coat-of-arms, the domed cover with conforming decoration and applied floral finial, each marked under base and cover, also with later French control marks, the black shagreen case mounted with silver furniture and lined with green velvet, the cover plate engraved with a coat-of-arms, the lock plate with maker's mark CN (Grimwade 3506)
The caddies 5¼in. (13.4cm.) high, the case 12¾in. (32.4cm.) long; 27oz. (846gr.) weighable silver (3)
