Lot Essay

The Lecoultre movement has stop positions at half revolutions, as in a two-per-turn arrangement, although the three tunes (possibly overtures) each occupy a whole revolution. A detent on the great wheel, riding on a cam on the centre, holds the stop/start detent out of its slot until the latter has moved on, when the movement is started by the clock. The music can be operated at will by the normal three levers at the side of the frame, and is released by the clock at one quarter past and one quarter to the hour.
