A Lambert clown guitar player automaton
the papier-mâché face painted with heart, club, diamond and spade symbols, with brown mohair clown wig, brown glass eyes, articulated eyelids and tongue, sitting cross legged on turned wood stool, the four-cam going-barrel movement playing two airs and causing the figure to turn and raise his head, strum the guitar with his right hand, lift the neck of the instrument with his left, raise his right leg and then both legs together, bending from the waist, lowering his head, blinking and sticking out his tongue, in original printed satin costume, black beaded slippers and pale blue bolero jacket decorated with yellow ribbons and sequins, the base with LB key; and a replacement costume - 21½in. (55cm.), (face repainted, left hand replaced, tongue and eye movements in need of adjustment)
