A very rare Izannah Walker painted cloth doll
with stockinette head, smiling mouth, brown painted eyes, two curls falling in front of each applied ear, painted cotton arms and legs with curved hands and black boots with red laces, sewn joints at shoulders, knees and thighs, wearing cotton night gown, --16¼in. (41.5cm.) high, late 19th century (some cracking and retouching to face and lower arms)

Izannah Walker was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island. She was believed to be making dolls from 1855 onwards. Her dolls were first patented in 1873.
