5 parts in one volume, small oblong 2o (187 x 272 mm). Engraved general title, three letterpress sectional titles; 4 engraved garden views, 1 engraved allegorical plate, the Cognoscite Lilia plate and 160 engraved plates. (Engraved title, Epigramma plate and plate 60/61 of Altera Pars remargined, title and first leaf with repaired tears, some plates with minor marginal chipping, light marginal dampstaining). Contemporary vellum gilt, "MD" monogram stamped on sides (rebacked with original spine laid down, corners repaired, endpapers renewed).

THE LATIN TEXT ISSUE OF ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS AND INFLUENTIAL OF THE EARLY FLORILEGIA. There is great discrepancy between copies in the number of plates and their states, the present copy is made up as follows:

Part I [Ver], engraved general title with integral circular portrait roundels of Dodoens and Clusius [apud Ioannem Ianssonium, 1614] (verso blank), 2 printed leaves, engraved garden (with three small figures) with text for plate I on verso, and 41 numbered engraved plates of plants all but pl. 41 with Latin text on verso.

Part II Aestas, printed title (verso blank), 2 printed leaves, engraved garden (with three small figures) with text for plate I on verso, and 19 numbered engraved plates of plants all but pl. 19 with Latin text on verso.

Part III Autumnus, printed title (verso blank), 2 printed leaves, engraved garden (with three small figures) with text for plate I on verso, and 25 numbered engraved plates of plants and 2 additional plates all but the last 2 with Latin text on verso.

Part IV Hyemalis, printed title (Index on verso), engraved Epigramma plate, engraved garden (with three small figures) with text for plate I on verso, and 12 numbered engraved plates of plants all but pl. 12 with Latin text on verso.

Altera Pars, printed title (verso blank), engraved plate Cognoscite Lilia and 61 plates of plants each with 2 consecutively numbered plants except plates 53 and 120 which depict only one plant, (all blank on verso).
