Lot Essay
Louis Faurer, whose work bridges the gap between Walker Evans and Robert Frank, was little known in the 1970s except among art historians and curators. At that time, only a few prints existed and were offered by commercial galleries. Beginning in 1979, Light Gallery reintroduced Faurer's work to the market place, working with him to produce a group of forty of his most important images. Lot 136 is a complete set of these photographs.
