A PAIR OF SILVER MOUNTED FRENCH (MOUSTIERS) FAIENCE BLUE AND WHITE TRAYS
Second quarter of the 18th century, the mounts with export marks post 1835
Each typically painted in the style of Jean Berain with monkeys teasing dogs, spinxes, birds, masks, shells and scrolls within a border of strapwork and pendant lappets, the underside with similar bands, set into a reeded silver rim mount, a bracket handle and lappet terminal extending into the basin at each end
