Circa 1724, gilder's 22. to both, painted by J.G. H#uoroldt
Of oval bombé form with domed cover, painted with vignettes of Chinoiserie figures seated at tables and involved in various pursuits, based on drwaings in the Schulz Codex and reserved within gilt Laub-un-Bandelwerk cartouches with Böttger luster and issuing rich foliate scrolls and plumes in shades of iron-red, sprays of indianische Blumen at each end

Lot Essay

The scene on the box of a man playing a keyboard instrument and another a lute is found on the cover of a sugar-box of the same form in the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Porzellansammlung, Dresden, (I.N. PE 646.) signed with a cryptogram along the wall at the right 'J G Ht'. Cf.
