A MEISSEN POWDERED PURPLE GROUND COFFEE-POT AND COVER

Circa 1740, blue crossed swords mark to the pot, gilder's 23. to both
Of faceted baluster form, painted on one side with European merchants at the quayside, on the other in the style of Watteau with European figures conversing in a park, a palace at the left with distinctive statues along the roof line, each reserved within gilt bands in an elongated quatrefoil cartouche with flattened side lobes, the cover painted with similar mercantile riverscapes
