A MEISSEN (MARCOLINI) PURPLE GROUND FOOTED TRAY
1780-1790, blue crossed swords, star and II mark, incised X.3.
In the neo-classic style, the shaped oval tray raised on toupie feet, the crenellated exterior with fixed gilt rings suspending an oak-leaf swag 'piercing' the rim at each end to form handles, the center finely painted en grisaille with Cupid playing a lyre as three bacchantes dance in a landscape, enclosed within a purple band edged in gilt and reserved and similarly painted with confronting grotesschi centering urns
