Circa 1750
Painted in the style of Jean-Antoine Watteau with amorous couples in landscape vignettes enclosed within moulded rocaille scrolls delicately enriched in iron-red and purple, the bottom with a gallant seated beneath a tree, a dove perched on his upraised left hand, the interior of the cover with a courting couple seated beneath a tree, her straw hat on the ground to the left, her maid hiding behind a basket of flowers at the right
