Lot Essay

An extremely rare example of an Arabic medical manuscript that was copied in 962 then probably travelled to China where it was rebound in a 17th/18th century Chinese binding.
According to H. Nasr, Jurjani "is perhaps responsible more than any other figure for the perpetuation of the medical teaching of the early masters, and especially Ibn Sina during the later century wherever Persian has been spoken."
Jurjani's most important work is Dhakhira-yi Khwarazmshahi, an extensive medical encyclopedia in Persian modelled upon Ibn-Sina-'SCanon.
