CIRCA 375-350 B.C.
Tondo: a figure of winged Eros leans with his left hand on the knee of a seated nude youth, his cloak beneath him, within a band of meander and chequerboard squares
Side A: a standing nude youth facing left, holding strigil in his right hand, flanked by two draped youths, the left hand youth with strigil
Side B: a similar scene with all three figures holding strigils
Three palmettes beneath each handle, the foot repaired
10 1/8 in. (25.8 cm.) diam.
Provenance
Nostell Priory, near Wakefield, Yorkshire, acquired 1819 from Abbé H. Campbell (listed in his catalogue, 1818, no. 26): sold Christie's London, 30 April 1975, lot 47.
