A DAUNIAN POTTERY ASKOS

The squat body with short vertical cylindrical spout with wide horizontal rim, a quadrangular-sectioned ring handle rising vertically above the back, painted with thick bands in dark brown and brown-red, a striped and dotted 'metope' on the spout's neck, another 'metope' with linked dotted lozenges at the rear, sets of three dotted circles above the base; and a pottery kyathos, the bowl with everted rim and tall looped strap handle, painted in orange-brown with bands and 'Maltese' cross motif on the interior bowl, first half of the 5th Century B.C.
