A DAUNIAN POTTERY KYATHOS
CIRCA LATE 6TH CENTURY B.C.
The shallow bowl with everted rim and high looped strap handle, painted in brownish black and red, with bands, 'metopes' around the body infilled with concentric lozenges and long dotted zigzag, the base with crossed trapezoid within a circle, the bowl's interior with three black and two red concentric circles, repaired; and six other Peucetian and Daunian pottery vessels decorated in black and orange, comprising a twin-handled footed jar with laurel wreath around the shoulder, repaired; another with shoulder frieze of ivy leaves on a wavy branch; a kantharos with wavy lines around the shoulder; a single handled round-mouthed jug; another, similar, smaller; and a globular jar with knobbed lid probably from another vessel, all 6th-late 4th Century B.C.
