A ROMAN NICOLO INTAGLIO OF MERCURY CIRCA 1ST-2ND CENTURY A.D.
With standing figure of Mercury, naked but for his chlamys draped over his shoulder, holding a money bag and his caduceus, by his side are a ram and a cockerel, on groundline, below possibly a tortoise(?), 1.3 x 1 cm., 1.7 cm. across inner hoop; and a haematite intaglio with Mars, standing with his body frontal and head profile, wearing plumed helmet, cuirass and tunic, holding spear and shield, groundline, possibly 2nd Century A.D., 1.4 x 1 cm., 1.7 cm. across inner hoop, both in later ring settings (2)
