'I am only an intuitive creator of signs who makes paintings out of philosophy by searching out shape and design in the dialogue, by looking for forms in the culture that has crystallised our common experience, or what Henry Martin has termed the "universalization of culture and experience"' (Vincenzo Agnetti, cited in J.
