Commenting on Redpath's work, Patrick Bourne writes, 'Anne found studio work, with the freedom to create such interactions, more stimulating than the surrounding countryside, and it was in the interiors that her style and individuality began to develop'. He also draws attention to her love of whites and cool harmonies, as she said ' ... as far back as I can remember I have loved painting white'. This she shared with Christopher Wood, who had died in 1930 but whose work continued to be an influence throughout her life. (See P. Bourne, Anne Redpath, Edinburgh, 1989, p. 26.)
