A LARGE NABATAEAN GOLD AND GARNET EARRING

The crescentic plate with bands of fine filigree and granulation, an inner semicircular frieze of granulated triangles bordered by friezes of filigree rope patterns, and gold spheres each with granulated rosette, the outermost border of granulated triangles with pendant gold spheres between rigid looped twisted gold wire 'petals', the terminals each of three gold spheres with granulated rosette and a cabochon garnet inlay box setting, the reverse similar with the frieze of spheres replaced with scrolling filigree
