A LARGE LATE PROTOCORINTHIAN OLPE
CIRCA 640 B.C.
Decorated in black polychrome style, with flaring neck and reeded handle, the body with broad panel of overlapping scale pattern in red, yellow and black with dots, framed by dotted rosettes, below a frieze of animals comprising stags, lions, bull, goat, sphinx and a boar, rosettes in the field, the lower body with encircling red lines and triangular rays from the foot, an incised guilloche band at base of neck with row of dotted rosettes above and below, an incised figure of a centaur with branch at base of handle
