Lot Essay

Zehender, who lived in Frankfurt from 1770 until 1778, painted views of Frankfurt, Hanau, Höchst and Mainz. The church on the extreme right of the present picture is the Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew and the tallest church to the left is Predeger Cloister, which was destroyed on 22 March 1944.
