Breguet In 1775, Abraham-Louis Breguet opened his first watchmaking store on the Quai de L'Horloge on Paris' lle de la Cite. During the 1880s Breguet created the first self-winding wristwatch, the perpetuelles, and patented the unique design of Breguet Numerals and the hollowed-out Breguet Hands. The perpetual calendar was developed in 1795, and the tourbillon regulator was patented in 1801. Breguet's most important technological innovations include the creation of the perpetual calendar in 1795 and the tourbillion regulator in 1801. One of the premier French watchmakers, Breguet has enjoyed the patronage of clients such as Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon and the Empress Josephine, as well as that of international clients like Selim III, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Queen Victoria and, more recently, Winston Chruchill.
