A large late 19th-Century English oak medicine chest,

The trunk-type chest has a lifting lid and drawer beneath. The top layer is compartmentalised and houses twenty-one pharmacy bottles, including: water-white jars, some with paper, painted or no content labels, all with stoppers; two straw-insulated bottles with patent stamps for ED.BTE SGI; and one blue glass bottle with water-white, facet-cut stopper. The bottom drawer is compartmentalised and contains five japanned metal boxes with paper content labels for Diuretic Ball., Cough Ball., Cordial Ball., Purging Ball and Mercurial Ointm., a water-white, two-ounce glass measure, a mortar, a bleeding cup and other items. The oak case has metal reinforcements and carrying handles; the interior has green plush lining (distressed) and an ivorine plaque for Savory & Moore.
