An early 19th-Century British rosewood domestic medicine chest,
of the trunk-type variety -- 17.2 x 18.5cm. (6¾ x 7¼in.)

The trunk case has a recessed brass carrying handle and escutcheon recess (the brass escutcheon and key missing). The lid rises to reveal a red ruched plush-lined compartment sub-divided to house ten bottles, all with stoppers and printed, paper labels (some distressed). The inside of the lid has a brass plaque engraved: From Apothecaries Hall London. The drawer below is secured by a brass retaining rod and has a recessed brass handle and four red plush-lined (distressed) compartments, one with a tray, containing: a brass apothecary balance and some weights; a glass mortar and pestle; and four small corked bottles with green, printed content labels.
