A mid-19th Century French cupping set,
in a shagreen-covered case -- 27 x 25.5cm. (10¾ x 10¼in.)

The case contains six water-white glass cups, a spirit burner, a sixteen blade oblong scarifier contained in a papier-mâché box, two small porcelain jars and two small lancets with ivory handles. The green shagreen-covered case is bound in brass, with a brass escutcheon (key missing) and a brass plaque engraved AU DOCTEUR A.F.Fourdrain, SOUVENIR DE Reconnaisance 1857.. The interior is compartmentalised and has a red plush lining.
