A rare plaster model of a portion of the Moon's surface,
by Henry Blunt, dated Shrewsbury, 1849, in a mahogany case -- 15.9cm. (6¼in.) wide

The plaster model is set into the case, with some scraps of mid 19th-Century newspaper beneath. The inside of the lid is applied with an explanatory paper, naming the region depicted as Eratosthenes. The inside edge of the lid is inscribed in ink This model formerly belonging to my dear friend and colleague Raphael Meldola was given to me by Mrs Meldola, in memoriam. S.P.T.
