Lot Essay

Lead miners in the north of England would from time to time come across crystal formations in the mines, which they would collect and frame or prepare for presentation. The sale of these samples at fairs and the like was regarded as a perk of the miner's regular employment. Most usually they are made up of black zinc and/or quartz and fluorospar.
