A 19th-Century Bohemian tellurion,
the globe signed DIE ERDE Prag bei J. Felkl -- 56cm. (22in.) wide

The 6.4cm. (2½in.) diameter terrestrial globe is made up of twelve lithographed gores. The equatorial, ecliptic and meridian of Fero are graduated in degrees. The continents are outlined in green, yellow, orange and brown and show some cities and rivers. It is mounted at the correct angle over a geared mechanism, half of which is enclosed in a hexagonal brass casing. There are further gears atop the globe and a wire arm with a white-painted moonball. The hexagonal brass case is fixed to the end of the cast-iron arm which turns by means of a fruitwood handle beneath the horizon plate with reflector, candle holder and paper Zodiac circle. It is raised on a turned and stained wooden column to a cast-iron twelve-sided base with six inswept paw feet.
