An unusual ivory telescope case,
unsigned and undated, probably late 18th/early 19th-Century, for a telescope with a 3-inch objective -- 48.3cm. (19in.) long
The tapering case is made up of three solid, turned and hollowed-out sections of ivory. The section for the objective has a small hole at the end and is inscribed in black ink 46cm Lange. The three components fit together by means of a simple interior lip on two of the pieces.
