A good 19th-century lacquered-brass English 2¾-inch astronomical telescope,
signed on the back plate DOLLOND * LONDON -- 64.2cm. (25¼in.) high

The 107cm. (42 1/8in.) long body-tube has a starfinder, two telescopic support rods and an eyepiece extension tube. It is raised on two A-frame supports from an alt-azimuth mounting with mahogany turning handles for vertical and horizontal adjustment, and a graduated quadrant beneath with a clamp for the alt-azimuth setting. The whole is raised on a slightly tapering brass column to three folding inswept feet. There are five different eyepieces in total, four being stored in a fitted piece of mahogany, presumably from the original case.
