An 18th-Century lacquered-brass Cuff-type microscope,
signed on the stage Made by Tho. Ribright. London, in a pyramid-shaped mahogany case -- 43.5cm. (17 1/8in.) high

The barrel has a sliding eyepiece dust cover and sits in a ring supported on a short limb from the main column. The nosepiece tube is engraved with vertical numbering 1-6. The support limb slides up and down the main column with a screw clamp and tangent screw fine adjustment for focusing. The column has an eared stage and scroll support to the base, which is attached to the mahogany plinth base and incorporates a concave substage mirror. The plinth base incorporates a drawer with a brass pull containing six numbered objectives (three lacking the glass beads), a frog plate, a sprung stage slide holder, a lieberkuhn sleeve, lieberkuhn in a brass canister, stage forceps, live box, condensor cone, and other items. The case has a brass carrying handle and attractive escutcheon (no key; repairs on the interior, base missing)
