Surmounted by a cymbal playing cloudbourne putto above the drum clockcase set with a white enamelled circular dial with Arabic chapters and twin-train movement, signed Theodore B. Starr, Inc., flanked to each side by a trumpeting satyr putto, on a shaped base applied with a basket of fruit and sphinxes, on toupie feet

Lot Essay
This clock is based on an 18th century model by Thomire. A similar example by Thomire, with a griotte marble base, can be seen at the Louvre.
