Lot Essay

One of Mêne's most popular equine groups, the wax model of Kemlem-Handani, Jument arabe et son poulain was exhibited at the Salon in 1850 (no. 3513). Subsequently listed as number 31 in the sculptor's catalogue, the title was offered in two sizes, the present fine cast being an example of the larger.
