CIRCA 1890, IMPRESSED MARK

This lot is accompanied by a xerox of the owner's receipt from 1946 stating that the piece was by Owen and had previously been the property of 'Mr. Evans Director of the Royal Worcester Works'. Mr. Evans was Edward Probert Evans, Managing Director from 1887 until 1915 and later briefly in 1927 shortly before his death in 1928. E.P. Evans certainly would have known George Owen and more than likely was presented with this piece by Owen himself. Apparently George Owen did not start signing his pieces until about 1890 and as this would date from about that time, one would not expect it to be signed.
