The slightly flaring neck enameled in purple, red, yellow and green with stylized morning glories in palmettes, suspending bells and tassles, the vase finely painted in colours with a Japanese youth taking tea beside a river, another figure walking and holding a fan, with a third figure carrying a parasol, in a continuous landscape of raised gilt, with birds in flight and mountains in the distance

The firm of Demartial & Tallandier was active between 1867 and 1883. They exhibited pieces in the 1867 Paris Exposition Universelle and again in 1878. Principally known as decorators, they were noted for pieces of fantasy, richly gilt and enameled. The partnership was disolved by 1883.
