A Staffordshire saltglaze white stoneware jug, two teapots and two covers
Circa 1765
The jug of baluster form, with a ribbed strap handle, painted in a bright Oriental palette with peony, prunus and chrysanthemum branches issuing from fencework, the rim decorated with flower-heads to the interior (some chips and cracks to rim), a small globular teapot and a cover with acorn finial and scroll handle, the teapot painted with vignettes of figures before towers and an obelisque in a wooded landscape (damages and old repairs), and a teapot with crabstock handle, spout and finial, painted with vignettes of Oriental figures holding fans between flower-sprays (the matched cover restored, some other minor damages and restoration)
