Note:
There is very little information on the artist Xue Kai, apart from that he lived during the early Qing dynasty. There is another hanging scroll by him, also a poem in running script calligrapy, dedicated to Master Xing and dated in the thirtieth year of the Kangxi era (1691), that is housed in the Nanjing Museum.
