woodcut, 1920, on wove paper, Hofmaier's first state (of three), signed in pencil, inscribed 'Probedruck', one of a few recorded proofs in this state, with wide margins, pale time staining, minor surface soiling mostly in the margins, a few soft creases at the lower right margin corner, a small skinned area at the lower left margin corner, stray printing ink on the reverse, old hinge remains in places at the reverse of the margin corners, otherwise in good condition
