Finely potted with rounded sides and an everted rim, the interior decorated in anhua with a pair of dragons in mutual pursuit of 'flaming pearls', the exterior covered with a ruby-red enamel of even, rich tone

Ruby-back bowls with anhua dragons on the interior have been published, one included in the Illustrated Catalogue of Ch'ing Dynasty Porcelain in the National Palace Museum, Vol. 1, Taibei, 1980, pl. 139; one sold in these Rooms, The Jingguantang Collection, 3 November 1996, lot 561; and another sold in these Rooms, 29 April 2002, lot 564.

A bowl covered in rich ruby enamel on the exterior but plain on the interior, is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, illustrated by S. Valenstein, A Handbook of Chinese Ceramics, New York, 1989, no. 255.
