Lot Essay

This vessel is one of a small group of glass objects which successfully simulate precious stones, in this case aquamarine. It is unusual, however, to have a vessel produced in this colour glass, pendants and snuff bottles are more common.

The shape may be compared with a turquoise glass fluted waterpot in the Andrew K. F. Lee Collection, illustrated in the exhibition catalogue, Elegance and Radiance, Grandeur in Qing Glass, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2000, pl. 58.
