The rectangular panel finely carved to depict groups of scholars, seated on the ground and at tables, or standing with companions, each group occupied in various leisurely pursuits including playing the qin, listening to the pipa, examining antiques, reading, painting and in discussion, all within a landscape scene detailed with plantain, pine trees, bamboo and wutong, the well-polished stone of greenish-blue tone with areas of characteristic fine dark speckles
