With gilt-finished jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, hour and minute repeating and quarter hour carillon repeating on three hammers onto three gongs, gold cuvette, the white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer telemetric scale, gilt Louis XV hands, four subsidiary dials indicating date, day, month and phases of the moon combined with constant seconds, in circular engine-turned case with a blank cartouche to the front, chronograph and repeating buttons in the band, cuvette signed

Lot Essay

The carillon repeating mechanism is more complicated than the normal one and is usually found in clock watches. It features three or four gongs instead of only two. The quarter hours of the present watch are stroke on three hammers onto three gongs.
