Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1958 and its subsequent sale on 12 August 1958.
The present lot is from the first series of the reference 2570/1, launched in 1958 with movement caliber 12'''400. As of 1960, caliber 12-AM 400 with same size and construction but with Gyromax balance and free spring regulator was used.
Both series feature an inner soft-iron cap resisting magnetic fields up to 450 oersteds.
The present watch is thought to be the eight model of this series in yellow gold to appear on the market.
A similar model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 2nd edition, p. 193, pl. 305.
