Cal. 43, with Quality 1A three quarter plate gilt-finished fully jewelled lever movement, screwed gold chatons, blued screws, bimetallic compensation balance with gold screws, gold lever and escape wheel, finely engraved balance cock, gold cuvette, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, outer red Arabic seconds division, blued steel spade hands, subsidiary seconds, in circular engine-turned Jürgens case, the front centred by a circular cartouche with engraved monogram, chronograph mechanism operated through the crown, case and movement signed and numbered, cuvette stamped and numbered, dial signed

Lot Essay

The present watch is accompanied by a certificate of the Uhrenmuseum Glashütte confirming its manufacture in 1887 and further stating that it was sold to John Hemmeter, Baltimore.

It is also accompanied by a contemporaneous A. Lange & Söhne fitted box, original certificate, invoice and a handwritten letter from A. Lange & Söhne to the purchaser.
