Lot Essay

Although the companion piece to the present lot was sold in London, 5th December 1995, lot 289, it is much rarer to find vines and gourds decorating an otherwise well known shape in the Qianlong period. Usually the decoration comprises the Eight Precious Objects, Bajixiang, in radiating petal panels. Cf. the flask sold in these Rooms, 7th June 1993, lot 81 and cited similar examples.
