A MATCHED PAIR OF BLUE AND WHITE ROULEAU VASES
Kangxi (1662-1722)
Each painted in a vibrant blue with a rectangular panel on each side, one panel enclosing a gentleman reading a poem to a lady holding a fan seated at a circular window above him, he seated astride a dragon amongst swirling waves breaking onto rockwork, the other panel with a pair of geese standing on a rocky promontory, another in flight above, each panel divided by two small quatrefoil panels of a hare and a crustacea and two floral fan-shaped panels, all reserved on a bright powder-blue ground, the cylindrical neck with two incised horizontal lines below the slightly waisted cylindrical neck rim, minute frits retouched
