Famille rose plates with bianco-sopra-bianco borders reserved with camaieu rose landscape cartouches and the same central design are in several private and museum collections; they seldom come on to the market and are much sought after by collectors. However, it would appear that the present example in the grisaille and gilt palette is even rarer and few if any examples are published; see Hervouët and Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes à Décor Occidental, Paris, 1986, p.185, colour plate 8.8 for an enamelled version, where mention is made of the same design in this palette and also in camaïeu violine.
