LOUIS XIV, King of France (1643-1715). Two documents signed and two letters signed, the first to the Duke of Viyonne, Versailles, 7 January 1688, countersigned by Le Tellier, one page, folio, integral address panel, original seal slits (small splits in folds, a few tiny holes not affecting text); the second, Versailles, 20 August 1688, countersigned by Le Tellier and endorsed by Claude de Pouilly, on vellum, one membrane, 250 x 335 mm; the letters signed addressed to the Pope [Clement XI] and to Cardinal de Medici, 'Protecteur des affaires de France a Rome', both Versailles, 1 November 1702, countersigned by Colbert, the first one page, 380 x 480 mm, the second, one page, folio (address panels, papered seals, one detached, seal slits).
Both documents concern military appointments for the Sieur de Sainte Marie [Claude de Pouilly] the first as sub-lieutenant in the company of Lambert in the infantry, bidding Viyonne to recall him; the second appointing him lieutenant in the company of Pouilly, in the regiment of dragoons of Catinat. The letters recommend Philippe François de Pouilly, priest of the diocese of Rheims, to the Pope, to be prior of the Benedictine convent priory of Maruille in the diocese of Teves, and ask the Cardinal to support him in this matter;
and: LOUIS XV, King of France (1715-1774). Two documents signed, a warrant and a commission for the Sieur de Sainte-Marie, Versailles, 1 March and 20 March 1725, both on vellum, 300 x 500 mm and 90 x 485 mm (contemporary endorsements, seal slits, slight spotting, large fragment of wax seal), the first awarding him an annual pension, and the second appointing him Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Dragoons.
[and:] LOUIS XVI. Two letters with secretarial signatures addressed to Monsieur le Baron de Pouilly, Versailles, 11 and 28 July 1787, referring to provincial assemblies at Metz and Clermont en Argonne. (6)
