"Laccadie ... Isle Royalle," France: ca. 1755. Manuscript chart of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island, ink and wash on paper, on 2 sheets, joined, rhumb lines and compass rose, 600 x 850mm.
The chart extends from Bay Francoise (Bay of Fundy) around Nova Scotia to Cape Breton Island and incorporates part of Prince Edward Island, annotated with principal headlands, anchorages, islands and sandbanks, numerous depth readings along the southern coast of Nova Scotia, land areas marked with principal rivers, bays and settlements. Contemporary annotation on the verso reads "Cartes Marinnes et plans de l' embouchure du fleuve St Lorient faitte pendant la campagne du Comte Deplas capitaine des Vaisseaux du Roi."
