(Hinges weak, plate 2 loosening, occasional light spotting and marginal browning). Original blue cloth gilt (spine ends and corners frayed, edges a little rubbed), gilt edges. FIRST EDITION. Provenance: Inscribed on half title: "Mr St Clare Byrne with Mr John Burns compliments. 13 Oct 1882". John Burns was the owner of Castle Wemyss and the Mastiff, which set sail to Iceland in June and July 1878, with Anthony Trollope on board as chronicler. Sadleir 51.
